Ashe's face was momentarily one of triumphant smugness, but that quickly changed to a pale realization that nothing she could do would put it on ice for good. Re-tightening her grip on her bazooka's handle, she was about to fire off another desperation blast, when all of a sudden reality itself began to morph, bend and warp. Accompanying the overwhelming scream of anger and the deafening static, the trio were exposed to the ear-splitting screech of a dimensional tear morphing nearby. "Ashe...!" Grey, already in pain as it was, found himself in torment as the sound tore at his audio receptors, causing him to cry out in agony. This was compounded by another tear manifesting, and another further away. It seemed that this thing's rage was ripping apart the fabric of space-time itself.

"Okay, plan B time!" Out of options and rapidly running out of time, Ashe did something she normally would only seldom consider. Backhopping to Grey's side, the hunter fired off one more blast to distract the oncoming reaper, before hefting her friend and - in an act that was a coin flip - tossed him into a nearby dimensional rift. "ASHE!? What in the h-?!" Model A's incredulous response was cut short as he was plucked from mid-air by his other Chosen One, who immediately followed in after her friend. And, for what felt like an eternity but no time at all, the trio drifted in the void between dimensions.

At the end of the rift, they found themselves emerging to a place with dull, overcast lighting. The first thing they were bound to notice was that they weren't touching any ground. The second thing was probably that their velocity had been maintained, and the trio were still hurtling through the air. The third thing they had to have caught wind of was that there was a blur of red and a black beast of some kind rushing towards each other, awfully close to where they were coming out.

And without even time to properly get their bearings, Grey had crashed into one of the figures, careening into the side of a building before they both tumbled to the ground. Whoever he'd hit was now groaning in pain on the ground nearby. Ashe, meanwhile, collided with that creature, breaking her 'fall', so to speak. And possibly the bear-like creature's spine, judging by the way it fell over afterwards, unmoving.

"Ohhhh... I feel like I got hit by a car..." The figure on the ground managed to squeak out. Wearing black clothes with a red cape and hood, she couldn't have been more than... maybe thirteen? Fourteen? But next to her was a massive scythe.

There was an immediate sense that they were being watched, by four people nearby, three of whom were in aggressive combat stances and armed. They looked shocked by what just happened, but their overall composure seemed intact, and they were ready for a fight.

Their warp seemed like someone had slowed down time to a near stop, flooded their vision with light, and then instantly sped up reality to full speed once more. In reality, the trip was instantaneous in physical terms, but the laws of their reality didn't seem to apply to... whatever inter-dimensional pocket the trio had just traversed. Ashe was the first to stir, sitting up with stars swinging wildly around her head. "Ughhh... what hit me...?" At the same time Grey, who had been less fortunate, in his landing. After impacting the poor individual on the other side of the rift, the Reploid had effectively rolled off her, slamming into the wall above her and landing on the ground with a loud thud. The only sound coming from him, aside from sparks from his damaged circuitry, was a pathetically tiny noise of pain. Unable - or unwilling - to move, Grey just laid on the ground near his unintended victim, fists tightened up from the unpleasantness of it all.

"ASHE!!!" From a small crater in the side of the building they had impacted flew out a very irate Model A, looking rather worse for wear. "What were you thinking?! We could've gotten turned into dimensional soup, if that's even a thing! What made you think that-" Snatching the Biometal out of the air from where she sat, the hunter jabbed a finger in the floating rock's face. "Listen you, it was either that or we'd've been turned into nice, diced up bits and pieces by that monster! Try showing some gratitude for... once..." Looking up from the asphalt where she was planted, Ashe noticed a rather tense group of armed individuals eyeing her with suspicion. "...well. This isn't awkward or anything," Ashe stated plainly, coming up on a complete blank as what to say - or even do - next.

The three staring them down looked a bit older than the girl on the ground. The first one to speak was the one wearing white, with white hair in a long side-ponytail, armed with a rapier. She had a refined sense of poise. "...Who are these people? This place is supposed to be abandoned."

The girl in black responded, one hand on the hilt of some weapon sheathed behind her shoulder. She wore a bow that resembled cat ears. "No uniforms, and they don't seem like Faunus to me... they can't be with the White Fang."

"Are they hunters?" Asked the third one, with long, curled blonde hair, a cocky look, and dangerous-looking gauntlets.

Forward came a slim man in a safari hat and a long coat, who had hung back before. From the moment he opened his mouth, words came out almost a little too fast process, and he definitely didn't take a breath the whole time. As he talked, the strange man zipped around, looking at the three of them from different angles, sizing them up in an academic fashion.

"Preposterous! Every last living thing in the area of Mountain Glenn that isn't a creature of Grimm had been dead for years, there's no possible way a pair of adolescents could have survived in these ruins for so long, with no sustainable food supply or shelter! And there have been no hunters assigned to this mission that have gone missing, certainly not any matching their description! And as Blake has said, they look nothing like the people we would expect to find out here. Additionally, they appeared out of thin air, already in motion, and seem just as surprised to be here as we are to see them! Now with all conjecture out of the way, I must ask you both..." He came to a halt in front of Ashe, stooping over to look at her at eye-level. "Who are you, and why are you here?"

Meanwhile, the girl Grey collided with stood up slowly. She was wobbling all around, super dazed, but seemed strangely unharmed for someone who took an impact like that, and hit a concrete wall.

Normally, Ashe would be far from nervous in such a situation, but she wasn't exactly prepared for... well, anything, really. Not after what had transpired in the past few hours. As the group of uniquely attired fighters - they had to be combat specialists of some kind - eyed her and the still-prostrate Grey, the bounty hunter returned each of their gazes with sharp eyes. Despite Model A's protests, her hands clutched the Biometal a bit tighter. Just in case, of course. But before the tension could snap in a violent manner, Ashe's entire view was filled with that of a very peculiar man... who's mannerisms were immediately pricking nerves with her.

"Ugh, did no one ever teach you what 'personal space' is?!" Shoving one of her gloved hands onto the man's face, Ashe pushed him back a touch before rising to her feet, dusting off her legs before resting one fist on her hip. "Anyway, I'm Ashe, bounty hunter and the Chosen One for Biometal Model A!" she said triumphantly, holding out the Biometal in one hand. Model A's eyes dimmed in a disapproving manner, clearly not too pleased about being shown off as a trophy of sorts, but he remained in Ashe's hand regardless. "We were traveling through some abandoned cyber-ruins of some sort, me, Model A and my friend Grey, when- Wait a sec," she interrupted herself. "Where is Grey right now?"

Before anyone could answer the girl's question, the distant sound of roaring could be heard on approach, as well as slight tremors in the pavement that they were standing on.

The strangers all looked around, the girls moving to guard the group's perimeter. The blonde one took up a stance similar to a boxer. "I guess we've got more company. Let's take care of them before introductions, alright?"

"Um, is this your friend?" The girl in red was leaning over Grey, putting a hand on his shoulder, shaking him a little. "You alright there, buddy?"

It wasn't long before a black bearish, wolf-like thing came around the corner, barreling at them. It had bone-like spines sticking out of its body, and a skull-like mask over its head. Underneath it glowed a pair of red eyes. The blonde one launched herself at it with a yell, punching it right in the jaw. At the same time as the impact, her gauntlet fired off a shot at short range, sending the creature reeling before she followed up with a few more quick, brutal strikes, downing it in short order. More of them start to come around the bend...

It was doubtful that the red-clad girl could make out what Grey was saying, but his face was clearly clenched up in pain. Looking over to where the girl was standing, Ashe's eyes widened. "Grey! Holy cow, you're beat up but good! Hold on, I-I think I've got a spare Subtank or two here-"

Before she could acquire one of the portable healing items, however, the monsters from earlier were upon the group. Torn between keeping an eye on her suffering friend and taking the fight to the baddies, Ashe decided that a strong offense was the best defense in this situation. "Alright Model A, seems we won't be getting a break just yet. Lets take it to 'em!" Holding the Biometal aloft, Ashe was enveloped in a flash of light, coming out in her signature grey and red armor, A-Busters in each hand. And just in time, too, as another one of the ursine monsters came barreling towards her with a wild bloodlust in its eyes.

A cocksure grin on her face, Ashe easily dashed to the side, kick-flipping off the wall and tracing a few markers along the creature's back. With a sharp crack of electricity, her left Buster fired out an arcing bolt, running up and down the Grimm's body from nose to tail multiple times. With a shriek of surprise and pain, the creature vaporized, its metal armor falling to the ground with a clatter. Not missing a beat as she landed with grace born of expertise, Ashe spun around once in place with arms outstretched, locking onto several more of the beasts nearby. One complete, she released it with a chuckle, watching with glee as the monsters all fell to the unfailing accuracy of her Lightning Chain. "This is a breeze!"

Before too long, the stragglers are all taken care of. Back on the other side, the rest of the strange warriors seemed to have taken out every last creature that didn't have to get past Ashe to reach them, none the worse for wear. The one in white looked particularly proud of the ease of their victory, but quickly becomes distracted when she notices that this newcomer had no more trouble than them. "...Are you sure you're not a Huntress?"

"There you go, don't worry, we'll patch you up in no time." Little Red seemed to have taken the time to move Grey onto his back, but is visibly baffled at his apparel and the damage he's taken. "What happened to you? Er, uh, right, first off- My name's Ruby. What's yours?"

Cracking her knuckles over her head and stretching her arms, Ashe kept her smile on the entire time. "Ah man, that's just what a gal needed to unwind! Haven't had a fight that fun in a while." Her attention shifted from basking in the post-victory glow, however, as the white-haired lady addressed her. "Well, I'm a bounty hunter, but you won't find any other mercenaries with skills like mine!" she proclaimed, proudly placing a hand on her chest with her chin lifted and eyes closed, that smile still present.

Coughing up a small spattering of red-tinged oil, Grey forced his eyes to open. Sparks arced around his cranium, originating from a hefty looking injury towards his upper forehead. It made facial recognition difficult, and for a moment the Reploid wasn't sure just what he was looking at. Thankfully, his audio receptors were working mostly fine. Swallowing to clear his throat, the boy replied, "G-Grey... my name's Grey..."

Finally noticing that Grey's not exactly a human, Ruby blinked at the head-wound, raising her voice to get the others' attention. "Uh, Professor Oobleck? H-how do we treat injured robots?"

The man moved closer to Grey, kneeling down to examine him. He seemed shocked by Grey's exposed mechanical bits, looking between them and his human-as-it-gets face, but kept speaking in the same tone as before. "Well, as long as nothing critical is broken- this young man is a robot?"

"Is there anything you can do to help him? I think we're a little clueless." Said the girl in black, looking at Ashe. She seemed genuinely concerned, though her yellow eyes were a little uncanny.

"Oh, right!" Demerging and running over, Ashe pulled out a small silver canister. Pressing a button on its top, she caused the device to expand to its full size, resembling a high-tech canteen of sorts. Grey recognized the Subtank immediately and, as his friend hand it out to him, he took it with what energy he had. The nanites - virtually a liquid in this form - immediately set to work as the Reploid drank. The damage was far too extensive to completely fix via Subtank, however, but this still didn't keep the superficial damage from mending itself before the Professor's eyes.

Taking Grey's hand, Ashe pulled the Reploid's arm over her shoulders, eliciting a groan of pain from the boy. "Hang in there, Grey - we'll getcha someplace to rest." Turning to the others in the group as Model A floated nearby, Ashe's tone became substantially more serious. "Listen, I know we're really not in any place to ask stuff here, but he's gonna need some time to heal up. Do you happen to have a place we could crash for a while? I can explain everything easily enough if we can sit down for a bit."

"Actually, we're in the middle of a several-day trek through this area." The blonde one interjected.

The one in white gave her friend a look. "We've been here for an hour."

"We won't be returning until we've completed our mission, and that may take some time. We'll be making camp at any defensible position we can find, but the plan was to be moving for the rest of the time. And as we're pursuing a criminal group, we need to avoid notice. Calling back our airship may alert them to our presence. Girls, why don't we follow the main street going north? This part of town was a residential district, so it stands to reason that there will be a suitable location to make camp."

As the girl in the red hood picked up her scythe, it folded down to a more compact shape before she put it away. "Yeah, we shouldn't wait around here any longer. Everyone good?"

Well that's just great, Model A grumbled, the ire in his voice clearly audible. We get chased by some glitchy maniac, tossed through some portal into who-knows-where, and now we're gonna get dragged along on someone else's mission?! The Biometal was experiencing an overwhelming wave of déjà vu at this scenario.

Raising his head, Grey shot their floating rock companion an annoyed glare. "Model A, we should count ourselves lucky to be alive after all that happened." His voice was broken, sometimes punctuated by a slight electric tinge on the sharper sounds, and one of his eyes was closed due to the oil leak dripping down his forehead. The Reploid could at least walk with some assistance, however, and he hobbled alongside Ashe as they followed after the odd group. Just my luck, Model A griped to himself, floating behind its Chosen Ones reluctantly.

The blonde-haired girl's instincts were sharp, Ashe came to realize. An intact residential structure not far down the road made for a good location to settle down for a short spell. Grabbing a dusty-looking pillow from a corner of the ruined building, the girl shook it out and fluffed it up as best she could, setting it down on the floor. She then assisted Grey to lay back on the ground, resting his head on the fluffy bedding. "Hang in there Grey, you've got this," she said, patting his shoulder. As the rest of the trio's impromptu hosts settled down, Ashe sat down herself, crossing her legs and resting her hands on her knees. "Well, we'd better get each other's names down, unless you girls want me calling you each by your hair colors. I'm Ashe to start with, and the poor kiddo with the busted up forehead is Grey. Model A's our Biometal friend - he lets us take on that armored form you saw me use against those suckers earlier."

"Well, if we're doing introductions," The blonde one started, puffing out her chest. "My name is Yang Xiao Long! Nice to meet you, Ashe, Grey. And, uh, Model A." She didn't really know where to look for Model A, though, so she just looked at Ashe the whole time.

The one in white went next, with an especially proud, haughty kind of tone. "I am Weiss Schnee, heiress to the Schnee Dust Company."

"I'm Blake." Said the girl in black. Not one for many words, but she seemed mellow enough.

"And IIII'm Ruby! Ruby Rose, leader of Team RWBY!" The girl in red told them excitedly. She sounded a little embarrassed in her follow-up, though. "...And, yeah, that does get kind of confusing. This guy is Prof- Doctor Oobleck, a professional Huntsman and a teacher at Beacon."

A fluffy-looking dog barked cheerfully at Ashe. "...And that's Zwei."

Silently mouthing each of their names while pointing at them, Ashe did her best to commit them to memory. After all, she got the feeling that they'd be working together for a while. At least, until they found a way to get back home. "Okay, I think I got all that... No promises, though! That's more names than all the bounty hunters in my guild back home. Never was too good with names."

Rolling over onto his side, head still on the procured pillow, Grey's eyes slowly slid open. When they did, he found himself looking a very short and curious canine, its ears perked forward and head tilted slightly. "Uh... hi?" Zwei's response was to lick Grey's face with friendly abandon, leading to the Reploid sitting up with a splutter, frantically trying to wipe the slobber off. Aww, seems you've made another friend, Grey! Model A said with a laugh, floating just above Grey's shoulder. Still with one eye closed, Grey shot the Biometal a glare. "Would you knock it off already, Model A?! You're not the one who got all bashed up by that-"

"Oh, would you boys cut it out already?" Ashe said with a raised tone, prompting reluctant silence from her companions. Seeing the odd looks their hosts were giving them, Ashe apologetically shrugged and gave them a smile. "Sorry, Model A can only talk to its Chosen Ones, and it does so with some kinda... telepathy. None of us really understand it, either. Anyway, where exactly are we? Because, looking around, I doubt we're anywhere near Innerpeace anymore."

"Innerpeace?" Ruby tilted her head. "Never heard of it."

The professor answered this one, hand on his chin. "...I've never heard of an 'Innerpeace', either. Is it in Vale? One of the other kingdoms?"

"...Is it in Remnant at all?" Blake asked quietly. She caught on quick.

"Are you suggesting that these people came from another world? I find that hard to believe." Scoffed Weiss.

Ashe's look at Weiss' attitude towards her statement was a very deadpan one. "Right. Because I've totally got some reason to lie to you right now." Rolling her eyes, she quickly picked up her perky demeanor once more. "But yeah, I guess that dimensional rift we jumped into kinda kicked us outta our world... however that works." Seeing the even more perplexed expressions on their face, Ashe sighed. "Its a long story, believe me. But, said story shortened, we were exploring, got chased by someone who was stupid powerful, and he opened up these portal... things. And since we were cornered, I decided to pull Grey and Mr Complains A Lot through to safety! Pretty quick thinking, if I do say so myself."

Having finally convinced Zwei to lay off on the canine kisses, Grey was now sitting upright, though not without leaning back on a nearby wall, the pillow on his lap. Taking a moment to reflect back on the extremely vague explanation Ashe had offered team RWBY, he held up a finger to try his hand at it. "Actually, I... I think I've got an idea how that works. The enemy we were fighting before, he was really strong, but somehow not entirely... stable. Like, he was somehow tied into the fabric of reality, but his connection wasn't really that solid. So while he could open up those rifts, they probably were done so pretty randomly, which is more than likely why we ended up here."

For a while, Ashe merely stared at her friend, a truly flabbergasted expression on her face. Wow Grey, give us some warning of your nerdiness before you go info-bombing us like that, would ya? Model A said, just barely less perplexed than his female Chosen One was.

"Wait, you're serious?" The heiress said, visibly taken aback. "I'm not sure I even follow this anymore..."

Blake was there to simplify. "So, you came from a parallel universe, through a portal that you didn't make. Hm..." She looked a little melancholy.

Yang looked between the two of them, finally managing to get a good look at Model A. "Huh, so you're bounty hunters? I can see it. You kinda look like gunslingers from old movies. But what's up with Grey and his, uh..." She gestured to all of him, eliciting a mild glare from Blake. "...Robot-ness?"

"Well, I am," Ashe replied. "Grey kinda just... got dragged into the whole thing. Really just a bounty hunter in title only."

Her Reploid friend sighed at the resurgence of those memories. It really had been a crazy first day or so of being alive. Far more so than most people, he'd like to believe. At Yang's question, however, he did find himself a bit perplexed. "Robot...ness?" It took him a moment, but he soon realized that there were no Reploids in this world. "Well, I'm not just some average robot like you might know. I'm a Reploid - it's short for Replica Android. We're pretty common back where Ashe and I are from, about one of us for every human. Reploids have been around in our world for... about five hundred years, but from what I read, its only recently that we started getting so human."

While Ruby contented herself with rubbing Zwei's belly, Yang stepped forward. "Wait, really? I mean, I've heard a lot about Atlas's robot soldiers, and we've even fought a couple of their bigger mechs, but this is actually really heavy, isn't it?"

Blake withdrew a little, mumbling to herself. "Machines with souls, so to speak. Like Asimov's speculative works..."

"This is unprecedented!" The senior Huntsman exclaimed. "Why, General Ironwood might pass out if he heard about you! In fact-" His demeanor went from almost manic to stern instantly. "-for your privacy's sake, we should probably keep this under wraps. Besides, it wouldn't do to cause a major upset so soon before the Vytal Festival."

Looking to the sun, still a little low in the sky, Weiss pointed to the north-west. "This entire region is the Kingdom of Vale. In that direction is the capital city, and Beacon Academy. That's where we'll go after this mission is completed. If there's anywhere in the kingdom to start looking for information, it's there."

Grey was just a bit intimidated by the professor's sudden outburst. Of course, given the fact that something of his nature was something of speculative fiction rather than reality, it was only fair. Nevertheless, the Reploid wasn't quite sure how to respond, so Ashe decided to slide on in. "Yeaaah, we'd much rather NOT be causing a ruckus or anything. It's not like we'll be staying here long, right?"

After a few more minutes allowing Grey's systems to regenerate most of his damage, the group was on the move again. At Model A's request, however, the male Chosen One remained in a Mega Merged state, just to keep him on the safer side of things for now. Ashe was plenty well prepared to fight on her own, anyway, given her armament of her laser bazooka and pistols. "So! Huntresses, huh?" she inquired of Yang, whom she was walking astride with. "You girls have got me curious now - what's up with that title?"

With a shrug and a smile, Yang plays it cool. "Oh, Huntmen and Huntresses are just the strongest, bravest warriors in the world. No big deal. They- WE fight Grimm, and generally keep the peace. You know, as heroes."

"Big damn heroes, are ya?" Ashe replied with a laugh, shifting her bazooka on her shoulder. "I getcha though - we're kinda the same deal, though it wasn't really by choice. They call us Megamen - weird, I know."

As the two ahead of him chatted quite amiably, Grey walked along behind most of the group. Groups were something he never felt comfortable with, always too much going on to keep track of. Ironic for someone with a mechanical intellect. He was, therefore, a bit surprised as Ruby poked his shoulder, drawing his attention. "Huh? Did you need something?"

"So, uh... I'm Ruby. ...Yyyyou already knew that..." Well, she wasn't exactly the most socially gifted, but she was trying, dang it. "I know this sounds weird, but... could you show me your weapon?" She seemed really excited just looking at his busters.

"Uh, sure." An odd request, but from what Grey had seen so far, the members of RWBY carried rather extravagant weaponry, so perhaps it was more tied into their interactions? Holding one hand out to the side, the Megaman turned his A-Buster on its side, palm facing upward. "This is one of my two guns, they're called A-Busters - the A is for Model A, my Biometal. This one is my regular Buster. I can fire off a bunch of shots, or charge it for a stronger one. My other one," he continued, holding the first buster's identical counterpart up, "is designed to lock onto multiple targets and blast them all at once, but it as a limit on how much it can be used."
