In all the students, there were a couple of familiar faces; some of the people who had shown up to the battle were here, uniformed and going about their day as normal, like they hadn't just fought to protect the city yesterday. But no RWBY. Either they were somewhere else, or they were lost in the crowd.

Taller than the average student, however, what the ragged, green-haired Professor Oobleck, standing outside of one of the classroom doors. Making eye contact with Grey, he maneuvered through the sea of students over to the A-Team. "Why, if it isn't Grey and Ashe! Decided to take my suggestion to see Director Ozpin?"

Scratching her head with a look of confusion, Ashe was about to suggest splitting up and searching for members of the team individually, when a familiar face approached them through the throng of students. A bit of relief washed over the trio at the sight of the professor, as well as the fact that he had managed to pick them out. ...granted, despite their mostly dull color palette in terms of clothing, the trio did stand out like a pair of sore thumbs.

"Actually-" Ashe began, clearly not recalling the mentioned suggestion. But before she could finish, Grey quickly interjected, the event now returning to the forefront of his mind. "Yes Professor, that's why we came here! We were hoping to see team RWBY as well, but from how things look around here... they're probably real busy, right?"

"Ah, yes, well. Yesterday's incident wasn't enough to close the school for a day, especially with the festival on the horizon. Still! I can write you a permission slip. With that, you could take them out of their class for a short while and see the Director." The man said, just as motor-mouthed as yesterday. Maybe even a little more-so. He wasn't even dressed all that differently; normal half-tucked button-down shirt and pants, thick glasses - he was just wearing his teaching clothes under the coat and hat. Dedication to academia?

Taking out one of those thin devices, he looked at the two of them. "...Oh, right, you wouldn't happen to have scrolls. I'll just do it the old-fashioned way." Slipping the 'scroll' back into his pocket, he took out a pen and notebook, already half-done writing the note before they have a chance to accept or reject the offer.

Both Grey and Ashe felt horribly out of their depth. In truth, neither of them had any formal education, although Grey had spent quite the substantial amount of time in the various libraries throughout Innerpeace, and thus the two of them were wholly unfamiliar with any sort of public education. Model A, being a Biometal, was equally unlearned but far less worried about the entire thing. Great! Now we can get all angles of the story to this Oobleck guy! ...that's a weird name though. Wonder where he got it from?

Accepting the slip from the professor, Ashe flashed him a bright grin. "Thanks! Any idea where we can find the team? Not sure where to start looking through here - this place is huge!"

"They'll be in between their classes right now, and I don't know their schedule aside from the classes that I teach. Well, first-year students all have lunch break at noon, so you'll find them in the cafeteria at that time. History of Huntsmen was earlier this morning, unfortunately. Honestly, I wonder if my students are absorbing the information I'm teaching them, since it's so early in the morning. I caught that Arc boy sleeping in class, and one of his team members seemed to be following his example. Perhaps they're simply not drinking coffee, or their sleep habits are unstable."

Eventually, this stream of information came to an end. "...So, will you wait for them, or keep looking? I'm sure someone can tell you their next-period class and where it is."

Ashe and Grey looked to one another, a bit unsure. After all, this academy seemed quite expansive, and they both felt a touch out of their depth. Unlike Grey, however, Ashe wasn't too content to just sit around. "After finding this place? It'd be kinda silly to just wait around, don't you think, Grey?"

The Reploid only seemed half convinced, but the idea of letting Ashe wander off with Model A felt like a bad one. "Yeah. I mean, this whole place is still new to us, and I get the feeling that we might be here a while." Turning to Professor Oobleck, Grey smiled. "Thanks for the help, Professor. Where should we start asking first?"

"Well, I suspect that their peers would know. Ask students who are still in their first year, i.e., the younger-looking ones." He turns to go back into the classroom, but stops himself. "Oh, yes, of course!"

Turning back to them, he imparted one last bit of advice. "Because of the upcoming festival, we have transfers and visiting students from the other kingdoms. So try mostly asking the students in our uniform."

"Keep an eye on the uniforms, got it!" Ashe said, giving the professor a thumbs up with a grin to match. "Thanks, Professor! Catch you later!"

Despite the tips, however, the duo found some difficulty in obtaining information regarding their new friends. The concept of a school was still alien to them, let alone one in another world. It seemed that no matter whom they asked, they continued to end up talking to the wrong person. While this hardly discouraged Ashe, Grey was beginning to feel rather self-conscious about looking like a lost foreigner. While his friend continued to poke and prod others for info concerning RWBY's whereabouts, he hung back a little, tugging at the cloak Ruby had lent him for the time being.

You okay there Grey? Model A inquired from inside his side pouch. "Yeah... this place is so different from Innerpeace, and I feel like I'm standing out a lot right now..."

The Biometal took a moment before replying. Well... just tough it out for right now, okay? Ashe is bound to find someone soon. It was clear Model A was just a touch frustrated that he couldn't help. Most problems they had faced involved blasting things apart, and that was anything but helpful here.

Grey smiled at his companion's desire to at least say something. "Thanks, Model A. I- ...huh?" Interrupted in his reply by a tap on his left shoulder, Grey turned his head to see who had tried to get his attention. Standing next to him was a girl about his height, sporting curly auburn hair, as well as green eyes not too different from his own. Her attire was different from the students of the Academy; perhaps she was lost, too? Her face had simple curiosity on it, with her raised hand moving to join her other behind her back. "Excuse me, but who are you? You do not look familiar, but this cloak does."

The cloak did? Perhaps this girl was a friend of Ruby's? Turning to face her fully, Grey replied. "My name is Grey, I'm kinda new to... well, I'm new here. My friend Ruby let me borrow this for right now, and-"

The girl gasped, a hand going up to her mouth. "You are friends with Ruby Rose too?!" She seemed legitimately surprised by this fact. Unsure if this was something of any significance, he nodded. "Uh, yeah. What's your name?" Ruby had told him about a few of her other friends, perhaps this would ring a bell.

"My name is Penny! It's a pleasure to meet you, Grey!" she replied with a tilt of the head, her voice chipper and upbeat. "Were you looking for Ruby to return the cloak to her? I would like to help! I too am looking for my friend, may I join you?"

Peeking out from his hiding spot in the pouch, Model A's voice was quizzical. Not that I doubt what she's saying, but this girl is definitely weird. ...like, more so than the weird we've been running into since we got here. While Grey wanted to reply, introducing the Biometal to yet another inquisitive person would only eat up more time. "Sure Penny. Right now my friend Ashe is asking around to see where she is."

"More like I was looking around!" Ashe crowed triumphantly, returning from a conversation with a passing student. "But it looks like you kept yourself busy too, Grey. I'm gone for five minutes, and you're already making new friends!" She gave the Reploid a playful jab in the shoulder, before smiling in Penny's direction. Grey winced a bit, but couldn't help but smile at Ashe's good news. "Oh, this is Penny. Penny, this is Ashe, my best friend."

Raising a hand, Penny gave a short wave. "Salutations, Ashe! It's wonderful to meet you! I was going to follow you and Grey so I could locate Ruby, too. Is that okay?"

Ashe shrugged. "Why not? The more the merrier, right? Besides, no reason we can't help a girl out!"

Nodding in agreement, Grey then asked about the location of Ruby and her team. "Room C-13, just down that hall over that way!" Ashe replied, pointing down a hallway to their left. "I've got the slips, so I'll talk to their teacher person when we go in."

Creaking open the door to the classroom, the trio peered inside. Down in the second-to-bottom row of students sat Team RWBY, suited up in their uniforms with an array of study material spread out before them. The teacher seemed to be giving a lecture on some kind of monster, doubtless one of those Grimm creatures that seemed to be everywhere. "Wow... so this is what school here is like," Grey whispered, eyes looking about the room with no lack of curiosity. Before his bookworm side could distract them, however, Ashe slid inside and walked down the center stairway, permission slips in hand. "Excuse me, Professor-man! Hate to interrupt, but I've gotta take team RWBY with me to see the head right quick." She passed him the permission slips with a smile, before turning to the surprised RWBY crew with a wink.

The portly professor seemed absolutely flabbergasted at these strange transfer students barging in to demand the release of four of his students, but regardless... "Well, er… this <I>is</I> Barty's handwriting. Try to be back soon, I was just getting to the best part of my story." ...Was he giving a lecture, or telling a story?

Team RWBY seemed elated to get out of there, regardless. Once everyone was out of the room, they all let out a sigh of relief. Looks like this was one class they'd rather not take part in. ...That, or the professor spent more time telling tales than teaching.

Looking up, Ruby took notice of Grey's new friend, immediately rushing over to her. "Penny! I haven't seen you since the dance! ...No escort this time?" She asked, looking around.

Penny smiled widely as Ruby ran over, excitement clear on her face. "Salutations, Ruby! It is good to see you, as well!" At her question, the girl shook her head, the smile still present. "No, I was by myself today, until I met some new friends!"

She gestured with both hands to Grey and Ashe, the former waving at the team. "Hey guys. Sorry to pull you out of class-" I don't think they're that worried about getting out of there, Grey. "-but we figured now would be a good time to meet that... Ozpin was his name, right?"

"Right, he's the Headmaster of Beacon Academy." Weiss explained with a haughty air. Whether she was trying to inform them, being outsiders, or if she just liked the sound of her own voice, it was hard to tell. "His office looks out over the school, and the rest of the city of Vale. We'll have to take the elevator."

As the group started to move, Ruby wasted no time prying the details of how Penny and the world-travelers had met. Which turned out not to be an issue, on account of it being a short story.

"Wow, what are the odds?"

"If they were both running all over the school, looking for you," Blake said, "...pretty high."

Y'know, for being an entirely different world, Model A remarked, it sure shares a lot of similarities to our own. Like, we've got Hunters with superpowers, a wilderness full of monsters, a giant city that's a safe haven with a huge tower in the middle, with someone important living in its top. Next thing you know, we're gonna start seeing alternative versions of Reploids here, too!

"I dunno if their tech has advanced that far, Model A," Ashe said, resting her hands behind their head as they marched. "I mean, I haven't seen a single warp station! How far could it have gotten by now?"

Following the brief recollection of Penny, Grey and Ashe's meeting, the ginger girl quickly turned the conversation to another topic. "So Ruby, how did you and your friends meet Grey and Ashe? They look so different from anyone I have ever seen, even here in Vale! Where did they come from? One of the other kingdoms?"

"Uhhh…." With a slight look of dismay, Ruby locked eyes with Grey.

Yang was quick to pick up the slack. "We ran into them on our expedition. We were in Mountain Glenn, and we just kind of ran into them from around a corner or something."

"Are you coming with us to see the Headmaster?" Blake asked, cautious. We can't just spill everyone's secrets, but if Penny is coming along with us, it'll be hard to avoid.

Penny put a finger to her chin, taking a moment to consider the question before replying. "I would assume so, yes! I do not know why we are seeing Headmaster Ozpin, but I do want to be with Ruby today, so I suppose I shall follow!"

It was clear between both Ruby and Grey that secrecy was now at risk of being broken. Penny seemed innocent enough, but Grey knew that he, Ashe and Model A had to keep a low profile. Like Oobleck had said, the knowledge that visitors from another world, dimension or reality - let alone of them being a machine, no less - would cause a huge stir. Gently grasping Ruby's right arm, the Reploid pulled her close and whispered, "You're friends with Penny, right? Can we trust her?"

Clearly unused to this kind of social situation or pressure, Ruby stuttered a little. "I-I mean, yeah, it's Penny. Just look at her. Tell me you wouldn't trust a face like that!"

Giving a glance over his shoulder in Penny's direction, Grey could feel a wry expression trying to force itself out. The last time he took someone at face value, they tried to kill him and Ashe. But Ruby had been good on her word so far, why would she lie now? "...yeah, Penny should be fine," he said to the team, noticing how on edge some of them seemed. It was comforting to see how ready they were to cover for himself, Model A and Ashe.

The elevator wasn't too far away from the classrooms, and thankfully there was enough room for everyone. A good thing two, considering how there were no less than seven members to their group by now. As the gang entered and the door slid shut behind them, Ashe leaned against one of the walls. "So, what's this Ozpin character like? Not sure what face to put on here."

"You have other faces you can put on?" Penny inquired while leaning slightly forward, eyes wide with curiosity. Grey gave Ruby a rather confused look, but Ashe laughed at the ginger-haired girl's wonderment. "Hahaha! No no, it's an expression - I dunno what kinda person we'll be dealing with, so I ain't sure how to act. Social nuance ain't my strong suit."

Penny looked contemplative, pondering the phrase's new meaning for a moment while Ashe restated her question. "But yeah, I don't have a bead on the situation we're walking into. Someone here wanna enlighten me a bit?"

Weiss was quick to launched into a lengthy explanation of Ozpin's history as the Headmaster of Beacon Academy, but Blake just leaned in to talk over her. "He's very straight-laced and dignified, but he gives this weird vibe sometimes, like he's half spaced-out."

"Or not even there." Ruby added. "But he's really nice and helpful. We weren't actually supposed to be allowed on the mission to Mountain Glenn, since we're first-year students, but he bent the rules for us a little."

Yang put an hand on Ashe's shoulder. "So it's thanks to him that we ran into each other in the first place! ...Then again, I guess somebody else would've applied for that mission if we didn't take it, probably."

"All the better for us, Yangster," Ashe replied, a grin on her face. "We've meshed pretty well as a group, better than I think we'd have with any of the other teams I've seen. Gotta say, for getting tossed through some kinda portal and ending up in some other world, we scored pretty lucky!"

Penny was quick to jump on this new information. "A portal? Another world? I do not understand, but that is very interesting! What is your world like? Why did you get tossed into a portal? And where-"

At this barrage of questions, Grey raised both hands to quiet their newest group addition. "Penny, none of us have any idea how or why this happened. It's why we're going to see Ozpin. Professor Oobleck told us he'd be the best chance we have at finding out what precisely is going on here."

As he finished, the elevator's bell dinged and the car began to slow down. "And we're here!" Ashe exclaimed, kicking off the elevator wall slightly. "C'mon gang, lets get going. We're going to see the wonderful wizard Ozpin!"

I'll be amazed if anyone here gets that reference, Ashe.

As the elevator door slid open, voices echoed from within the spacious office ahead of them, barely audible over the sound of gears turning above them.

A composed and level voice asked, "Will that be all?"

After a brief pause, a stiff, angry voice accompanied by some electronic distortion responded sharply. "...For now. But after this festival comes to a close, we are going to have a serious discussion regarding your position at Beacon Academy. General Ironwood's reports of these last few week have left us somewhat... concerned. I'm sure you understand."

Another voice spoke, similarly distorted. This one was a bit more authoritative and somber. "This is the right move, Ozpin. I promise. I will keep our people safe, you have to trust me."

Up ahead, a main with gray hair and dark spectacles, wearing a green suit, sat alone at a large, heavy-looking desk. It appeared to be made of metal, with a pane of thick glass making up the surface. on closer inspection, there were a multitude of gears turning under the glass. In fact, on the left wall was a mass of clockwork, and above was yet another series of turning cogs. Even the chair the man sat in had several gear-like decorations sticking out, and supporting the armrests. He turned to the side, not seeing the group as they exited the elevator. The man appeared to be lost in deep thought.

It was a very spacious circular office. Below the glass floor were more metal wheels, and behind the man's desk and set into the far wall was a massive window looking out over the academy grounds. It appeared to be an actual clock, facing out over the world blow. This man was very dedicated to the aesthetic, evidently. In fact, it seemed like everything in the room had the same kind of teeth, in keeping with the pattern.

...For such a huge room, though, it was devoid of any people, short of the man and the group arriving now.

The sound of their collective footsteps on the glass flooring clashed with the rhythmic ticking of the gears, but did nothing to shake the oddity of Ozpin's office. Grey hung back just a touch, letting Ashe and Ruby move up towards the front of their group. Penny was a tad distracted by her new surroundings and fell behind a bit, her attention stolen by the curious choice of decoration, before she realized the group had moved ahead of her. As she caught up, standing between Grey and Yang, Ashe was clearing her throat.

"Excuse me, Headmaster?" she started, but trailed off when she noticed that her voice hadn't elicited a response. She turned her head to Ruby, one eyebrow raised. "You were not kidding, Rubes." Clearing her throat for a second time, Ashe again spoke. "Headmaster Ozpin? Can we speak to you for a few minutes?"

Psst, Grey! Is it safe to come out yet? Model A whispered, not wanting to startle his chosen one. I'm getting smothered in here!

"Oh, uh, sure," Grey said, still a tad startled. Releasing the Biometal from his pouch, he readjusted the cloak as Model A floated nearby. Phew, that's better! Now I-

There was a gasp from their left as Penny caught sight of Model A. "Oh! What is that floating rock thing?" Grey and his Biometal friend exchanged glances. This entire upcoming conversation was going to be a doozy, wasn't it?

The man turned to face them, taking a sip of coffee from the mug in his hand, before his eyes lighted on the group. "Miss Rose? And some new faces, I see. What brings you to my office?"

Ruby stepped forward, gesturing to Ashe before launching into an increasingly fast-paced and slightly jumbled explanation. "Well, y'see, we kinda ran into these people on our mission, but they're not sure where they came from and we definitely have no clue where they came from but they're super-definitely not from around here and they helped us catch Torchwick and stop the White Fang in that incident yesterday so we wanted to help them figure out what's going on and-"

"Take a deep breath. I read the report your team and Professor Oobleck turned in. Were there sensitive details you felt the need to omit?" Standing up, Professor Ozpin set his coffee down. He held a cane in his left hand, apparently for stability. "...Something you need to discuss with me?"

"Well... we kind of need your help." Ruby pleaded. "We don't know who to ask about this!"

The Headmaster quietly made sure that his video call had, in fact, ended, just to be certain.

Ashe nodded to Ruby in thanks, before turning to Ozpin. "My name is Ashe, and these are my friends, Grey and Model A." She gestured for her counterpart to walk forward, Model A floating alongside him. "As far as we can tell, we came here from another world - our world, to be exact, based on the fact that you guys call your world Remnant, and ours is called earth."

Nodding in agreement, Grey spoke in turn. "Yeah. We were exploring some old ruins when we came across some... thing. It tried to kill us both, but we fought it off. Or at least, we thought we did." Subconsciously, the Reploid lifted a hand from the edge of Ruby's cloak, rubbing at the half-healed scar on his head. "It regenerated or something and... well, I'm not too sure, but we think it created some kind of... portal? It's the only way I know how to describe it, really. A-anyway, I got hurt, so Ashe had to drag Model A and I into the portal to escape and... well, we ended up on that mountain near team RWBY."

"That's kinda the long and short of it," Ashe finished with a shrug. "I mean, there's plenty more details we could give ya, but we might be here all day. And I dunno how long those passes of theirs work for," she mentioned, casually gesturing to team RWBY.

"Professor Port and I go back many years. He won't raise a fuss if Team RWBY doesn't make it back by the end of this class period; take all the time you need. I've suddenly gained a bit more free time than I had before." His tone was warm and encouraging, uncommonly so.

Turning to look out his window, he moved very little. "...Another world. This is the most unexpected development thus far. There are means by which to travel long distances quickly, but I only know two people who possess that kind of power. I'll send word to the one I'm still in contact with, see if she knows anything about your situation. Otherwise... I'm afraid I don't know much more than you do."

Ozpin turned back to look at them. "However, given that this is an unprecedented event, I feel that it demands my attention. I will help you in any way that I can. For the meantime, I can provide a room in the school dorms, and give you access to our facilities."

Sitting back down again, steeple-ing his fingers and leaning forward, Beacon's headmaster looked from Grey, to Model A, to Ashe. "If you wouldn't mind telling me about your world, I'd like to hear as much as I can. After all, the upcoming festival is about cultural exchange; it seems unfair to exclude guests who came from a different world."

In turn, the members of the A-Team glanced at one another. They could all tell that they'd probably be doing this a lot. "Alright, but buckle up," Ashe said. "From what I can tell, it's a bit of a wild ride for you guys."

The next hour and a half was spent talking in detail about the world of Earth, the nations that remained, its history and current state of affairs. Ashe made sure to cover the more recent events, with some assistance from Model A, while Grey handled anything history related. While the entire discussion was ongoing, Penny remained transfixed by it all. No one seemed to notice though, at least not initially. "...it's been almost four years since the whole Ouroboros thing went down," Ashe concluded, "but there are still Mavericks running amok. We think they might be stragglers from Master Albert's army, since there's so few of them, but outside of Innerpeace's walls, it gets really dangerous, really fast."

While the bounty hunter was finishing up their tale, Grey had decided that he didn't need the cloak anymore, or at least for the time being. Undoing the fastener, he slipped it off his shoulders, passing it back to Ruby with a small smile. "Thanks, Ruby. It really helped."

Pinning it back into place happily, Ruby looked ecstatic to have it back, though she didn't say much. "No problem! We actually wanted to pick up something you could keep, but it's back in our room, so we'll have to get it later."

"That would be wise." Ozpin added. "As much as it pains me to say it, this should perhaps remain under wraps for a while longer. If robotics are so advanced in your world, then Grey and Model A's bodies no doubt hold secrets that could advance those fields rapidly - secrets that arms manufacturers, scientists, and criminal operations alike would all be eager to obtain, even through unsavory means. It would be smartest to simply hide this until the time is right. That you come from another world is certainly a shock, but it should be safe for people to learn your origin."

Yang rolled her shoulders, trying to get the stiffness out. "He's got a point there; nobody would take it seriously if we said you were from another world."

"So we say they're from Earth." Weiss corrected. "It's not that complicated. They'll just assume it's a settlement they've never heard of. Even if they do ask for more details, it's safe for us to explain, as long as we leave out the whole robot thing."
